Members’ Fun "Dinking Tournament" & Social

ALL NEW FORMAT FOR 2026!

TOURNAMENT DETAILS

This year's tournament has been modified with the aim of improving the participants' experiences. There will be 48 players of different abilities divided into 12 teams with each team playing the three other teams in their pool. Each player will play 6 games. The top four teams will then play in two knockout rounds to determine the tournament winner.

When:   Saturday, August 22, 2026: Check-In: 9:30 AM, Tournament: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Where:  Sechelt Arena (10:00-12:00)

Like all tournaments, logistics become challenging with odd numbers of players and teams. Our goal is to have 48 players with 12 teams of 4 dinkers per team. We encourage you to register early so that you are not left out of the tournament.

Wait List: Registrations beyond 48 players will be added as "stand by"- email Carol Mollerup.  

Tournament Format:     

A fun round robin event of team pickleball played in the non-volley zone. Each team consists of 4 players ranging from novice to advanced dinkers. All shots must be taken on the bounce and must land in the Non-Volley zone. Any shot landing outside the non-volley zone is a fault. Coin toss for serve. Serve is a ‘cross-court’ dink that must bounce in the NVZ. Spin serves not allowed. Each dink game is played to 7 points. The number of points won are added to your team’s scorecard. The top 4 teams play in a semi-final match where each team selects 2 of its players to participate. Winning teams meet in the final, but cannot use the same two players. 

Tournament Cost: $5.00 plus 3% Service Charge       

The SCPA is renting the Arena for 3 hours and the $5.00 per player covers our rental fee. Sign-in at the Arena: 9:30 - 9:45. Tournament begins 10:00 sharp!

From Dinks to Drinks:   

After the "tournament", we invite players, spouses, and other members who may not have played in the tournament, to head over to 140 Legion Bar & Grill in Sechelt to applaud the winners and celebrate the end (almost!) of a summer season of pickleball. The Legion is providing a nice, varied menu but advance registration is required to determine the numbers going.

Cost:      $34.25 pp - All in - lunch, one drink, gratuity

Menu Choices:      

1. 140 Burger - Beef
2. 140 Burger - Veggie 

3. California Chicken Sandwich 

4. Fish and Chips - 1 Piece
5. Fish and Chips - 2 Pieces 

6. Reuben Sandwich - may have garlic 

7. Cobb Salad with Ranch or House Dressing 

Side choices are made at the restaurant:

House salad, Caesar Salad OR Fries

House wine - red or white, or draft beer or soft drinks, tea or coffee

Please note:The Legion needs to make necessary advance preparations so only registered guests will be allowed to attend. You do not have to play in the tournament to attend the social.
