Members’ Season-Ending Fun "Dinking Tournament" & Social

When:   Saturday, September 6th, 2025: Check-In: 9:30 AM, Tournament: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM,  Social: 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM

Where:  Sechelt Arena (10:00-12:00) then 140 Legion Bar & Grill (1:00 - 3:00)

Tournament Format:     

A fun round robin event of team pickleball played in the non-volley zone. Each team consists of 5 players ranging from novice to advanced dinkers. All shots must be taken on the bounce and must land in the Non-Volley zone. Any shot landing outside the non-volley zone is a fault. Coin toss for serve. Serve is a ‘cross-court’ dink that must bounce in the NVZ. Spin serves not allowed. Every player on the team will play with each team-mate, once. Each dink game is played to 7 points. The number of points won are added to your team’s scorecard. The top 4 teams play in a semi-final match where each team selects 2 of its players to participate. Winning teams meet in the final, but cannot use the same two players.

From Dinks to Drinks:   

After the "tournament", we invite players, spouses, and other members who may not have played in the tournament, to head over to 140 Legion Bar & Grill in Sechelt to applaud the winners and celebrate the end of a summer season of pickleball. The Legion is providing a nice, varied menu but advance registration is required to determine the numbers going. Menu ordering and payment is at the Legion.

Registration:                     

Like all tournaments, logistics become challenging with odd numbers of players and teams. Our goal is to have 40 players with 8 teams or 50 players making up 10 teams of 5 dinkers per team. We encourage you to register early so that you are not left out of the tournament.
Please Note: The registration form gives you the option of registering for just the tournament or the tournament plus the social for yourself and non-playing partner..

Tournament Cost: Free!!       

The SCPA is renting the Arena for 3 hours, but the entire rental cost has been covered by SCPA and a grant from the District of Sechelt! To play in the tournament each player must register individually in advance. Sign-in at the Arena: 9:30 - 9:45. Tournament begins 10:00 sharp!

Legion Bar & Grill - Cost: Depends on Your Food and Beverage Choice from the Menu
We have booked a portion of the restaurant from 1:00 - 3:00.
Please note:
The Legion needs to make necessary advance preparations so only registered guests will be allowed to attend.
You will select your menu choice at registration but pay at the restaurant.
You do not have to play in the tournament to attend the social but you use the same registration form.

Regular Play:                    

For those not wanting to participate in the tournament, 2 courts will be available for regular play without charge.
